We’re pleased to present… The Bartley Brothers on January 28th, 2010!

This is one special group of musicians… led by Rick and Shayne Bartley, seasoned pros in the world of bluegrass.  They have been playing this music since they were little boys in Kentucky!  Rick was the homebody, working the mines, but picking, singing and writing some amazing songs.  His younger brother Shayne has been a driving force in a number of top national bands such as Dave Evans, Charlie Sizemore, Rarely Herd, David Peterson and 1946, Karl Shiflett, and the Lost and Found as well as more!

But now, this is special.  The brothers have come together to finally record and tour together and they have one heck of a great sounding traditional band and we can’t wait to hear them strut their stuff on the stage at the Glass City Opry!

If you had to give them a “sound” then it’s straight up traditional, hard driving Kentucky bluegrass since they have been collaborating for years with both J.D. Crowe and Don Rigsby as well as Junior Sisk, all leaders in the music.  The Bartley’s music can be found on their CD products and on stage as well!

You can visit their MySpace page for more music and good information!

To start off the new year… we’re have a local favorite band… Deepwater Bluegrass to set off the first music of the new year!  Yes, of course, running the Opry, it’s a fringe benefit of getting a chance to play once a year!  We hope you’ll come out and enjoy the music of both the bands on this, a special event… Thursday, January 28th… doors open at 6:00 pm and the music starts at 7:00 p.m.    Tickets are $15 a person and children under 15 are free with an paid adult!

Join us for some fun music!!!!

IIIrd Tyme Out… LIVE IN TOLEDO!!!

June 8th, 2009 by Sherri

We can hardly believe it ourselves… IIIrd Tyme Out is coming to Toledo. Perhaps for one of the first time ever in our little corner of the state… this bluegrass super group is coming through town and contacted us to see if we might just find an evening that would work with their upcoming June tour and we had to react!

If you haven’t heard of IIIrd Tyme Out, you are in for a wonderful treat. This band was an overnight sensation when it formed in 1991 and they have garnered over 50 industry awards including seven consecutive years as IBMA’s “Vocal Group of the Year!” This just doesn’t happen to a local jam band… this is the sign of a super combination of just the right musicians, music and voices to create one of bluegrass music’s most recognized and in-demand bands in the genre’s history.

Their a cappella renditions of many songs, featuring one of the most respected lead vocalists of all time, can rarely be matched and their superb instrumentation, from some of the best musicians in the business, provides even more quality sound to their rich vocal blend. All this along with a heavy touring schedule, including many performances on the Grand Ole Opry as well as GAC and RFD channel programs, over 14 recordings to date, and a desire to present their fans with the best music possible, makes this show here at the Glass City Opry one NOT to miss!

IIIrd Tyme Out, consisting of Russell Moore (guitar), Steve Dilling (banjo), Justen Haynes (fiddle), Wayne Benson (mandolin), and Edgar Loudermilk (bass), has it’s origins in the fact that this is the third time out for founding member, Russell Moore and consequently the third professional bluegrass band association for him. No doubt, the third time has proven to be a charm.

Respected writer and musician Chris Stuart, in his perceptive liner notes for Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out’s Rounder records release ‘Footprints: A IIIrd Tyme Out Collection’ writes, “IIIrd Tyme Out has their own brand of bluegrass: unmatched quartets and trios, masterful lead singing, dead-on rhythm, tasteful fills, lyrical solos, and great songs. From stage left to right they are a complete band – perhaps the most complete band of the past two decades.”

Don’t miss this unique opportunity to see one of bluegrass’ most respected and enjoyed bluegrass bands, here LIVE at the Glass City Opry on Tuesday evening, June 16th, 2009. Doors open at 6:00 and the show begins at 7:00 pm. A complete evening with the band, no opening act. Normally, these concert tickets would be $25 or more, however, the price for this evening is only $20 a person, children under 15 are free with a paid adult. This will be an enchanted evening and one that you won’t want to miss.

Cumberland Gap Connection – What a Show!

June 8th, 2009 by Sherri

We had such a good time at our second Opry in May…. Friday May 15th to be exact!

We had the privledge of hosting a wonderful band… Cumberland Gap Connection… and these boys really sounded mighty fine… sweet harmonies, soulful originals and some hard drivin’ bluegrass that we all love. Very good stuff.

And it was nice to see the Clark Brothers and North City Grass kick off the show… it was a great evening… and here are a few highlights of the night!
